Bradnor
Bradnor Standing stone Grid ref SO 2798 5756 A granite stone measuring approximately
1.2m by 0.6m which leans to one side. It lies close to boundary bank but not
near any obvious parish or community boundary. Other similar stones can be seen
on the golf course. When the golf course was made on Bradnor Hill some stones
were removed. The stones were three to four feet in the ground. At the same
time some earthworks (i.e. dtiches) were levelled. This work was done in the
1950s. Neolithic

Four Stones Grid ref SO 245 608
.Four stones set in a circle with their flat surfaces facing the middle. The whole site measures 4m by 3m and the stones vary between 1.2-1.9m high. The SW stone has three probable cupmarks carved into it. There is a gap between 2 of the stones, suggesting that there may originally have been a fifth boulder. Folklore suggests that the font in the nearby Old Radnor Church may once have filled this gap Bronze Age, SMR ref 1072 |
