DATEMAP
From here you can follow the history of this area by decades for the period from from shortly before the Norman invasion of 1066 to the final subjegation of the native Welsh Kings and Princes by 1282. This turbulent period of 250 years left numerous castles and castle mound remains throughout this area, and substantial sections of many churches including fine artistic features.

NOTES
The maps on these pages attempt to illustrate the gains and losses of teritory by the major protagonists and are also linked to further pages about the individual castle sites, also referenced on the Location map.
The information on these pages, although heavily researched, may contain some errors for which I apologise in advance - for the most part these would be caused by somewhat conflicting dates in the different sources which force one to make a bit of a guess now and again.
If you have any information to add or correct please contact me as I can update pages pretty quickly.
