From here you can follow the history of this area by decades for the period from from shortly before the Norman invasion of 1066 to the final subjegation of the native Welsh Kings and Princes by 1282. This turbulent period of 250 years left numerous castles and castle mound remains throughout this area, and substantial sections of many churches including fine artistic features. |

The information on these pages, although heavily researched, may contain some errors for which I apologise in advance - for the most part these would be caused by somewhat conflicting dates in the different sources which force one to make a bit of a guess now and again.
