The place name Eardisland is of Anglo Saxon origin so it
is reasonable to assume that this site goes back further than the building seen
today. The oldest part of the church is the 12th century nave, the chancel,
vestry and porch were added in the 14th century. A tower was built in the 15th
century but collapsed in 1728 and was replaced by the present one in 1760. Inside
there is usually an exhibition going on which adds to the architectural and
artistic reasons for a visit. A full guide is available.
